A eulogy to the cowboy, our American mythic hero.
Consider: The Marlboro Man stood as an iconic symbol of freedom, his image corporately manufactured to represent an individual in control of his destiny, smoking and selling billions of cigarettes before being banned from American TV, radio and print in 1989. Since then, five of the actors who played the cowboys have died of smoking-related causes, earning Marlboro cigarettes the nickname, "Cowboy killers”.
